Landowska studied composition in Berlin in 1896, and in 1900 she went to Paris. There, influenced by her husband, Henry Lew, an authority on folklore, she researched early music.

The British Harpsichord Society is sad to report that the eminent harpsichord maker, Andrea Goble, has died, aged 91. Andrea’s father, Robert – a protegé of Arnold Dolmetsch – founded the family firm, Robert Goble & Son, in the 1940s.
