27 cze 2019 · Five years after its launch, the Hubble Space Telescope captured an image that quickly came to symbolize both the power of the telescope and the beauty of the universe. The “Pillars of Creation” are towers of gas and dust in the Eagle Nebula, some 6,500 light-years away.
By observing light from faraway cosmic objects, the Hubble Space Telescope is like a time machine. Light takes time to reach Hubble, because it travels great distances. That means images captured by Hubble today, show what the objects looked like years ago!
