You may bring one carryon bag and one personal item without charge (subject to the limitations below). Southwest doesn't have sizer bins like some airlines. A fraction of an inch larger in each dimension generally will fit in the bins without issue. Keep in mind that if it's a full flight and you have a late boarding position you may have to check the bag through if there is no overhead bin space left.
