  1. The Rhumb line is usually longer than GC distance but it will get you to same destination without making any other course change after you find and follow the Rhumb line path. I decided to give it a try and completely deviated from my flight path after I was cleared for R002.

  2. Bad news: Last night I launched from Delhi en route London. After the screen refresh, I calculated a rhumb line to LHR. I still had one or two WPs to go on the SID (standard instrument departure), but I bypassed them entirely. I climbed to 39,200 ft. I got no error messages.

  3. I understand using the rhumb line method is great for long trips even if it takes longer to arrive at your destination apposed to using the great circle route which the game uses for shortest distance to your destination. Not using the rhumb line requires course adjusting, especially between the R00 points.

  4. A rhumb line intersects all meridians (lines of longitude) at the same angle. In other words, you follow it by flying a constant heading. The shortest distance between two points on a (nearly) spherical globe follows a great-circle route.

  5. Has anyone seen this method (flying a rhumb line and skipped R waypoints) NOT work since the update to version 1.5.4? It's possible that I set something wrong, like the speed, but I really thought that I had double- and triple-checked everything. Thanks!
