For students moving toward their private pilot certificate, the FAA spells out the requirements for cross-country training specific to the category and class of aircraft involved. The regulation covering cross-country training for private pilots is 14 CFR 61.109 and is sorted according to the class involved.
• Pass a simple medical exam (Private Pilot) or hold a valid driver’s license (Sport Pilot). • Pass a test on aeronautical knowledge (this course prepares you for that test). • Complete the required flight training for the course (see Appendix D).

This means you can be added to the pipeline for an aviation career much quicker than other candidates.
The FAA requires 35 hours of flight time to become a Private Pilot, however most students will take somewhere between 55-70 hours. The average time it takes to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate is 4-6 months. We recommend our students fly at least 2-3 times per week for efficient continuous learning.
