With one person for every 65 square kilometres (25 square miles) of arctic wonderland, the feeling of gigantic natural space is absolutely true! Nunavut can only be accessed by air and sea. You cannot get here by car and Nunavut communities are not linked together by highway.

Nunavut is bordered on the east by Hudson Bay and Baffin Bay, and on the west by the Northwest Territories. It is bordered the north by the Arctic Ocean, and on the south by Manitoba, Hudson Bay, and the Hudson Strait. Nunavut is one of the world's most remote places to live and an adventure to visit.
The immense territory includes most of Canada's Arctic Islands, from Baffin Island in the territory's southeast, where the capital Iqaluit is located, to Ellesmere Island a few hundred kilometres from the North Pole. The territory also includes all of the islands in Hudson Bay.
Nunavut includes Ellesmere Island in the far north, the eastern and southern portions of Victoria Island in the west, and all islands in Hudson, James and Ungava bays, including the western portion of Killiniq Island in the southeast and Akimiski Island far to the south of the rest of the territory.
