The MSF Basic RiderCourse is designed for beginning riders, ages 16 and up. The MSF has offered rider training for over fifty years, serving over 10 million motorcyclists nationwide. For the Basic RiderCourse, you’ll have about 5 hours of learning, often through an online eCourse, before you get on a bike.

The 4-hour classroom session prepares you for the 10+ hours of on-motorcycle instruction. Motorcycles are provided by the Ohio Department of Public Safety. See Frequently Asked Questions (below) about using your own motorcycle or scooter.
Courses include classroom and driving sessions with a certified driving school. A certificate issued at the completion of the program will allow a driver, at least 60 years of age and older, to receive a discount on their insurance (rate of discount determined by the insurance company).
