Alternative method: Enlist. Be a good Airman and stand out in your peer group. Get accepted for LEAD program as soon as eligible. Reap the rewards of ~100 LEAD slots per FY reserved for active duty/USAFR Airmen and have a decent shot at getting in USAFA as a prior-enlisted Airman.
Who can apply to U.S. Air Force Academy? To be eligible to apply to the Academy, applicants must be: at least 17 but not past their 23rd birthday by July 1 of the year they enter the Academy; a U.S. Citizen (international students are eligible under different requirements) and unmarried with no dependents.
Assuming you want to go into commercial aviation, MIT is the better choice. The Air Force academy is a great school, but afaik most military pilots have to sign ~10 year contracts, which will hold you back from reaching major airlines. This will leave you with less seniority once you get there and therefore worse routes and less choice.

I highly doubt the AVERAGE mile time is 6:29 and push ups are 62 for men. I am dude by the way. Right now I can do about 50 push ups, 50 sit ups, run an 8:30 mile and do 5 pull ups. I don't know what my basketball throw is. Are my scores where they need to be? Although this is what the academy as average, is this really what they are looking for?
