This course enabled clinicians to evaluate evidence obtained from the Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation 3rd Edition (GFTA-3) results, including standard scores, error analyses, stimulability and intelligibility information, and emergence and mastery data.
Scoring the GFTA-3. After giving the GFTA-3, evaluators can obtain a standard score if needed for justifying services. However, all SLPs know that the specific sounds produced in error are what is important vs. a standard score, which doesn’t tell you anything about the client’s performance.

When scoring the GFTA-3, the therapist calculates a raw score by totalling the number of correct responses for each subtest. Using the manual, the raw score can be converted to a standard score. The standard score provides a measure of the client's performance relative to a normative sample.
GFTA-3 provides age-based normative scores separately for females and males for the Sounds-in-Words and Sounds-in-Sentences tests. Intelligibility is reported as a percentage score, and Stimulability information is reported in table format.
