Kirkdale Cemetery was officially opened in 1881. In 1893, the bodies of those prisoners who were executed at Kirkdale Gaol were re-interred here in a mass grave. Kirkdale Cemetery contains 386 First World War burials. Of these, more than 100 are Canadian. Of the remainder, 82 are of officers and men of the King's (Liverpool) Regiment.

The 32-acre Kirkdale Cemetery opened in 1881 and was designed by Walton landscaper, William Wortley, and architect William Duckworth. It's located on Longmoor Lane, bordering Greenwich Road...
Even with the grave reference and a copy of the cemetery plan which can be downloaded it is a tough and unrewarding job to find a plot, especially if you find no stone. Spoken from recent experience at that cemetery!
