How are IELTS scores calculated? The individual IELTS scores for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking are all equally weighted. They are rated from 0 – 9, with increments of 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75. The overall band score is calculated by taking the mean result for all four parts of the test.
You will be awarded an IELTS band score for each test section of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Each will be graded from 0 - 9 to reflect your proficiency in English in each of these areas.
The IELTS Listening test contains 40 questions. Each correct answer is awarded 1 mark. Scores out of 40 are converted to the IELTS 9-band scale. Scores are reported in whole and half bands. Here are the average number of marks scored at different levels of the IELTS scale in Listening section.
