From everything I read on these forums and also peoples flight trip reports, the only way to fly is First/Business or the equivalent (its quite hard to find economy trip reports). Even Premium economy really gets people talking.
What do you guys reckon is the best airline for the normal economy travel experience (considering this is the experience most of us use when travelling via air). From my experience JAL and Virgin are pretty good (although avoid Virgin during school holidays as they can be full of kids).
You have to read the fine print because every airline is different, but usually with the economy fares, the more expensive ones will let you refund your ticket or use the $ on another flight, while the more cheaper fares you loose the money if you cant make the flight

is there any difference in seats for Emirates Economy and Economy Flex? The price difference between those on a flight from YYZ to Colombo, Sri Lanka is almost $400.00. So for a family, it adds up.

United has introduced a “semi Basic Economy” transatlantic fare in conjunction with Lufthansa. It’s a lot less restrictive than the BE fares introduced by Delta/SkyTeam/Virgin and AA/BA/Oneworld. The fares are completely non-refundable and non-changeable though.
