The villages are all just minutes apart from one another, and trains frequently run, especially from spring to fall. A one-way ticket between two destinations costs 4 euros (as of May 2020).

The ideal location of this town between the Cinque Terre and Genoa and the affordable prices mean that many tourists decide to stay right here. Although it is set on a peninsula and is surrounded by the sea, Sestri Levante has a good railway network from where you can easily reach Portofino and the Cinque Terre, and trains run very often.

Coming to the cost of train tickets, each single journey between any 2 places costs €5 (as of May 2023) whereas the Cinque Terre travel pass costs €18.20 for a day.

Some visitors choose to base in one of these two towns and make day trips into the Cinque Terre. The coastline between Portovenere and Cinque Terre is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
