The villages are all just minutes apart from one another, and trains frequently run, especially from spring to fall. A one-way ticket between two destinations costs 4 euros (as of May 2020).

The Sentiero Azzurro is the name of the hiking trail that connects all 5 towns. But note it is not all open at this time. The trails between Riomaggiore – Manarola – Corniglia are closed as of now.
Getting to the Cinque Terre by bus or train from Florence. The closest of Italy's "big three" cities is Florence. The distance from Florence to the Cinque Terre Village of Manarola is 79 miles or 127 km. At the time of writing there is one direct train a day. There are buses, but they're more expensive then the current train fare at around $18 ...

Manarola to Corniglia: 3 km, easy, 1 hour. Corniglia to Vernazza: 4 km, moderate, 1.5 hours. Vernazza to Monterosso: 3.5 km, moderate, 1.5 hours.
The ideal location of this town between the Cinque Terre and Genoa and the affordable prices mean that many tourists decide to stay right here. Although it is set on a peninsula and is surrounded by the sea, Sestri Levante has a good railway network from where you can easily reach Portofino and the Cinque Terre, and trains run very often.
