Hotel, transportation or meal expenses incurred as a result of a flight disruption within the control of Delta Air Lines may be eligible for reimbursement under Section 12 of the Delta Customer Commitment and Contract of Carriage.

If you are a resident of the U.S. or Canada and you incurred hotel, transportation and/or meal expenses due to a significant delay (>3 hours) or cancellation that was within our control, you can submit a reimbursement request using the Reimbursement Request form.
UPDATE (in case others search for this in the future): The round trip ticket is 10% off the ticket price I see on the Delta site for the route. In addition, the ticket is considered fully refundable and I can move the return flight to any day I want (even 30-60 days later).

In the event of a death or imminent death of an immediate family member, a customer may have to travel at the last minute. Customers may not have the time to qualify for an advance purchase discounted fare. To help our mutual customers, we offer special fares for bereavement travel.
