In this article we set up a framework for collegial discus-sions that can function as monitoring sessions to review practices in administering, analyzing, and interpreting running records. We begin by revisiting Clay’s methodology: the system-atic observation of reading behavior.
Writing a running record requires the educator to act like a video camera, recording all significant behaviours and interactions as they happen. Whereas anecdotal records are written after the fact, running records are written as the action is unfolding.
