Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance of the outbound flight will not be eligible for a refund and will instead receive a Reservation Credit. This optional service may not be available for purchase on all flights.
It has to be within 24hrs of booking AND with more than 7 days of anticipation in order for a person to qualify for a refund. And this is not a Spirit rule, it's an FAA rule.
