Atmospheric pressure, also known as air pressure or barometric pressure (after the barometer), is the pressure within the atmosphere of Earth. The standard atmosphere (symbol: atm) is a unit of pressure defined as 101,325 Pa (1,013.25 hPa), which is equivalent to 1,013.25 millibars, 760 mm Hg, 29.9212 inches Hg, or 14.696 psi.
Flight Level (FL) A surface of constant atmosphere pressure which is related to a specific pressure datum, 1013.2hPa, and is separated from other such surfaces by specific pressure intervals. Altitude above sea-level in 100 feet units measured according to a standard atmosphere.

Global maps of air pressure. The maps show the global distribution of the monthly means respectively the anomalies of the air pressure reduced to sea level. In areas with little data, especially over the oceans, there are hardly any measurements that allow direct analyses from observations.
