Worth depends on how you value the comfort vs the extra money spent. I have flown a lot of PE's though on on AA itself. Looking at the specs, AA is pretty much industry standard though when it comes to that cabin.
I have used AA premium economy between US and Chile - similar thing but slightly longer flight. Their PE is a lot better than BA, the only other airline I have used with PE. I think it is definitely worth it but I prefer an aisle seat.
