Yankee doodle is a must if you visit Santa Monica. The monster burger is its biggest attraction. I've been in LA several times and I cannot skip a challenge to the "monster". Food is reasonable, you can enjoy great music and watch sports in one of the "thousands" TV whilst playing pool!
