Though not entirely necessary, my thought process has always been get the battery replaced yearly or upgrade yearly. For my 12 Pro to 13 Pro upgrade I chose upgrade because it only cost me $99 out of pocket with the trade in, and the device is paid in full. It was that or a $70 battery swap.
