While exploring data in a map view, you might have questions about how that data relates to its surrounding geography, locations, or landmarks. To answer these types of questions, you can use the Radial tool to measure approximate distances in your map view.

I would like to add a radius circle around each distribution center location. We want to do this either 1 of 2 ways. Have a fixed radius circle of 30 miles and 60 miles around each distribution center location; Or we could, in conjunction with a filter, show a 30 mile radius, 60 mile radius and 100 mile radius circle.
As you can see, the function takes 3 arguments: latitude, longitude, and a radius. The point is created from a linestring defining a point at the latitude and longitude. The radius is passed to the BufferWithTolerance() function to grow the point to a circle of the exact distance specified.
25 paź 2022 · To create a map with any of these geographical fields, simply double click on the field in the data pane and Tableau will create a map using generated latitude and longitude fields. You can then encode the geographic points or areas in the view with a measure contained in your data.
MAKELINE(MAKEPOINT([Lat],[Lng]),MAKEPOINT([Dest Lat],[Dest Lng])) This formula takes latitude and longitude coordinates from your origin and destination cities and turns them into geographic points for spatial analysis. Those coordinates are used to build to two-point lines between origin and destination. When finished, click OK.
It allows you to select marks based on them being within a certain radius of your chosen point, but you don’t know how big that radius is. There becomes a point during zooming in when there is a change in the level of detail of the terrain, not very noticeable in all areas.
