Pilots who frequently travel to Canada directly from the United States on a small private aircraft should apply to enter the CANPASS Private Aircraft program, which makes clearing the border easier for private aircraft carrying no more than 15 people (including the crew) and traveling to Canada from the United States.
(i) 50 hours of cross-country flight as pilot-in-command in aeroplanes or helicopters of which 10 hours must be in the appropriate category; and (ii) 40 hours of instrument time of which a maximum of 20 hours may be instrument ground time. The 40 hours instrument time shall include a minimum of:
12 hours solo practice, with 5 hours of cross-country flight including a flight of not less than 150nm with 2 enroute stops. Medical Fitness: An applicant shall hold a valid category 3 or 1 medical certificate. Ground School Training: A PPL applicant must attend a minimum of 40 hours of approved ground school.
