There's a lot of stuff that been said about how seeds are calculated from text strings using the java procedure string.hashcode() and also how numeric seeds are handled by the MC world generator that is no longer true.

I am playing on a server, and I would like to know the seed of it, to be able to find biomes I like more easily; recently I observed that the technology to calculate seeds is working really good, and I was wondering if someone could explain it to me.
