From everything I read on these forums and also peoples flight trip reports, the only way to fly is First/Business or the equivalent (its quite hard to find economy trip reports). Even Premium economy really gets people talking.

What do you guys reckon is the best airline for the normal economy travel experience (considering this is the experience most of us use when travelling via air). From my experience JAL and Virgin are pretty good (although avoid Virgin during school holidays as they can be full of kids).
Given that there may be 20+ fare buckets on any flight with more than a dozen Economy fares you may pay about half the fare of the person sitting next to you but equally not. Add in the potential cost of a checked bag and optional seat fees and the best source will remain the carrier's website.
