The Recorder of Deeds provides online access to its document images and index information from August 1921 to the present. Our commitment is to utilize the latest technology to provide the highest levels of service and support to citizens of the District of Columbia and customers around the world.
The public information viewed on our online case search system reflects the docket entries in civil, criminal, criminal domestic violence and tax cases, probate cases for large estates and small estates, disclaimers of interest, major litigation, wills, and foreign estate proceedings.
The Recorder of Deeds is located at 1101 4th Street, SW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20024, and is open from 9 am to 3 pm for purposes of recording a deed and from 9 am to 4 pm for all other services. You may contact our Customer Service staff by calling (202) 727-5374.
To request Recorder of Deeds Libers (Books), researchers must visit the DC Recorder of Deeds, at 1101 4th Street, SW, Suite# W270, in order to obtain a DC Archives Liber Request Form. The completed form must be faxed to the Office of Public Records at (202) 727-6076.
The Office of Public Records schedules, collects, stores and manages records of the District government through the services of the District of Columbia Archives, Records Center and the Library of Government Information.
