The villages are all just minutes apart from one another, and trains frequently run, especially from spring to fall. A one-way ticket between two destinations costs 4 euros (as of May 2020).

Some visitors choose to base in one of these two towns and make day trips into the Cinque Terre. The coastline between Portovenere and Cinque Terre is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site .

Cinque Terre Hiking Trails: The Map Getting to the Cinque Terre by bus or train from Florence. The closest of Italy's "big three" cities is Florence. The distance from Florence to the Cinque Terre Village of Manarola is 79 miles or 127 km. At the time of writing there is one direct train a day.
All other trails are free! The Cinque Terre Express trains are running every 20 minutes between the five villages. You can also enjoy this scenic coastline by taking the ferry and hop on and off where you like. Monterosso. Monterosso is the largest of the five towns and has the most amenities. Beach-lovers should definitely stay here.
