Castle Air Museum is a military aviation museum located in Atwater, California, United States adjacent to Castle Airport, a former United States Air Force Strategic Air Command base which was closed in 1995, after the end of the Cold War. It is one of the largest aerospace museums displaying vintage aircraft in the western United States.
We’ve visited the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton, the Udvar-Hazy Smithsonian Museum in D.C., and the PIMA Air Museum at Davis-Monthan in Tucson. The collection at Castle is not quite as large, but still represents a great cross-section of Air Force aircraft and is definitely worth a visit.
This is a must see for military aircraft enthusiasts. An example of virtually every Army Air Corps/Air Force bomber that ever served is on display, including one of only 4 surviving B-36. A large number of other Air Force and Navy military aircraft are also there. The museum building also has some very good exhibits.
