11 paź 2023 · When you book an airline ticket, always make sure that you not only have a five or six digit confirmation code, but also make sure you have a 13-digit ticket number. It’s possible to have a confirmation code without actually being ticketed on a particular itinerary.
To calculate the status miles, the route, airline, and booking class will usually be enough. There are, however, some exceptions, such as United Airlines MileagePlus, where in certain cases the number of status miles is based on the flight’s price – at least if it was issued or operated by United.
To keep track of your miles, create an account with your chosen airline and register your frequent flyer number when booking a flight. You can monitor your account through the airline’s website or mobile app to see up-to-date information on earned miles, redemption options, and expiration dates.
