If you want to make hems on dress pants or curtains like a professional, you’ll need a sewing machine and a specialty foot specifically designed to make a blind stitch. The blind stitch gets its name because from the right side of the fabric, it is barely visible.
8 mar 2012 · I use a 110/18 Wing needle, and the stitch I prefer is the entredeux stitch pattern (check in your sewing machine manual to see if your model includes this stitch). If your machine does not have it, try using the venetian, daisy, zigzag, or triple zigzag. The pattern must flow from side to side.

Stitch a tiny zigzag (L and W=1.0) from the right side so that one needle swing goes into the "ditch" right next to the "ladder" of the entredeux, and the other needle swing just catches the fold of the fabric. Starch and press one more time.
21 wrz 2023 · Set your sewing machine to the zigzag stitch option and adjust the stitch width and length to your liking. Fold the raw edge towards the wrong side, align it with the needle, and start sewing. The zigzag stitch will create a stretchy hem that moves with the fabric.
18 lip 2023 · To guarantee a straight stitch, use the marked lines on your sewing machine’s footplate. Sew with a medium-length stitch around the hem as you gradually pull the fabric through the machine. Be sure to use a thread that suits the colour of the fabric you are hemming.
20 lis 2016 · Simply overlock the raw edge of the hem using an overlocker or the overcasting stitch on your sewing machine. Press the required hem allowance up (the hem in the image below is a narrow hem) and stitch in place from the wrong side close to the edge of the hem allowance and within the overlocking stitches.
