Walt lies to Skyler and says that Elliott is indeed paying for his cancer treatments to hide that it is being financed by his drug profits. His deception goes undetected until Skyler, who calls Gretchen trying to figure out why Walt had a second cell phone, learns that Elliott contributed nothing.
The reason I even started watching Breaking Bad was that a friend pointed out it had loose similarities to Death Note in terms of the Cat and Mouse between Walt and Hank and Light and L (but again if I was to compare Hank to any Death Note character I'd ultimately compare him to Sochiro and not L).

Walt tackles Jesse and remotely fires the machine gun; all of Jack and Todd's associates are killed, while Walt is grievously wounded. Jesse attacks a distracted Todd and strangles him to death with his shackles, then frees himself with Todd's keys.
Both characters also get caught in the dumbest way despite all the effort and elaborate plans they go through in the series and they both die with their passion in mind (Light dies with the Death Note whilst Walt dies in a Meth Lab).
