The actual air miles flown (BDL->DFW->SFO) are 2,930 but if I took a non-stop flight from BDL->SFO I would only earn 2,625 miles.

The first flight segment is on AA, the next on Iberia. The third is on Vueling, the last two on BA. We both have airline miles with AAdvantage and with Avios.
