It seems UA has 100% bonus or 50% off (essentially the same thing) promos on average once a month or so for Miles purchases. Does anyone here take advantage of these? The math breaks down to 1.88 cents a mile. When compared to the cash price of some tickets, it seems worthwhile.

I’ve bought miles over the years when it is available at <$0.02/mile. Even though many folks set the value at $0.012/mile, for me it has made good sense to buy miles - even when without an immediate travel plan.

19 cze 2024 · Both the 45% discount and 90% bonus promotions fall short of the best offer we've seen to buy United miles, and there are certainly better ways for most travelers to earn United miles than buying them at 1.98¢ each. The math will of course depend on which promotion you are targeted for.
Looking at the miles sale right now and looking to buy the max 112.5k miles for a 100% match for a total of 225k miles for $4240. It comes out to 1.88 cents per mile and then I have United Quest which is 3x per dollar so it's an additional 12.6k miles for a total of 237.6k miles for $4240 or 1.78 cents per mile.
