The turn and slip indicator can be referred to as the turn and bank indicator, although the instrument does not respond directly to bank angle. Neither does the turn coordinator, but it does respond to roll rate, which enables it to respond more quickly to the start of a turn.

The difference between the Turn and Slip Indicator and Turn Coordinator is that the Turn and Slip Indicator shows the rate of heading change, and the Turn Coordinator indicates both the rate of heading change as well as the rate of roll, or movement of the aircraft around the longitudinal axis.
9 lip 2022 · A turn coordinator displays the rate of turn as well as roll information and is used to determine the coordination of a turn (e.g., slipping or skidding) and the bank angle required for a specific rate of turn (e.g., 2 minutes for 360 degrees).
TURN FACTS. A turn-and-slip indicator will sense rotation only about the vertical axis of the aircraft. It tells nothing of the rotation around the longitudinal axis, which in normal flight occurs before the aircraft begins to turn.
