Instead, we can place eunuchal and clerical masculinities together and consider the results.

Through an exploration of the regulation of gender in the cases of Byzantine eunuchs and Indian hijras, the article sheds light on how some non-Western cultures have dealt with gender beyond the binary and provides a novel lens through which to consider current Western claims.
