A rhumbline is a straight path from your departure airport to your destination and is for a FF. The game uses "great circle path" when making the flight path in an FF. That means the quickest route from one place to another place on the globe. (Credits to Noodle Arm for that) The heading is the direction in degrees your plane is going.

It's a flight path that allows you fly straight to your destination, without having to change your heading constantly as is necessary when flying a great circle route. Rhumb line is a longer distance, though.
I understand using the rhumb line method is great for long trips even if it takes longer to arrive at your destination apposed to using the great circle route which the game uses for shortest distance to your destination. Not using the rhumb line requires course adjusting, especially between the R00 points.
Rhumb lines A ‘rhumb line’ (or loxodrome) is a path of constant bearing, which crosses all meridians at the same angle. The Rhumb line is usually longer than GC distance but it will get you to same destination without making any other course change after you find and follow the Rhumb line path.
How do you set the rhumb line? Do you just switch to manual WP, then select the next waypoint as the airport you're going to? Or do you calculate things with the GC(great circle) map?
