Various Boards and Commissions assist the City Commission by carrying out board duties and providing recommendations in their interaction with government. Members of these boards are appointed by the Mayor and or the City Commission: majority of members are volunteer in nature.

The County Board of Commissioners is the chief policy and legislative body of the County Government, with seven members elected for two-year terms, from districts as established by the County Apportionment Commission.
