Jenůfa is a must-see event in Chicago’s fall arts season. A heart-wrenching score tells a painful story, but there is hope. Janáček’s score, partially inspired by Moravian folk music, is filled with gorgeous, sweeping melodies and an expressive orchestration that makes Jenůfa sound unlike any other opera at Lyric this season.
