Open daily from 10 am to 8 pm, the museum has knowledgeable Rangers, informative exhibits on Hawaiian legends, native flora and fauna and the history of Kilaeua with displays of lava varieties. The outside viewing area is open 24 hours a day and offers excellent views of the current activity in Halemaumau.
The Jaggar Museum Overlook provides panoramic views of Kīlauea Caldera, interpretive displays about one of the world’s most active volcanoes, and breathtaking views of Halema’uma’u Crater. Halema’uma’u is an ongoing eruption that began on March 19, 2008.

The Thomas A. Jaggar Museum is located near The Kīlauea Visitor Center in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. This museum is named after Thomas Augustus Jaggar, the founder of the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. The exhibits here are mostly about volcanology and geology.
