Without Optifine the computer renders vanilla Minecraft at 3-6 FPS and the game is choppy and unplayable. With Optifine on the default settings it will play Minecraft at 15 FPS; with additional tweaking it will play Minecraft at 24-30FPS or so.
Another way you can edit your render distance without tampering with class files yourself is to download a mod that does it for you. This mod has a 2x render distance and a 1.5x render distance version. Additionally, it offers the Better Cloud Mod.
Simply put, it add simplified terrain past Minecraft's default view distance to improve performance and allow for longer draw distances. Now you can finally enjoy that lookout tower you built on top of a mountain!
18 sie 2022 · Increasing it past the maximum can be a challenge, but there is a simple way to do it. Mods like OptiFine and LabyMod can increase the render distance and are both primarily aesthetic mods.
7 paź 2019 · Going up to just 25 render distance will drop fps down to the 50s. At 64 render distance I get around 15fps. For reference, with the texture pack on, but shaders turned off, I get around 150fps at 4k resolution with 64 render distance.

Raise render distance past 35 chunks in optifine. Archived post. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. The Settings menu won't let you do that, but you can instead modify the optionsof.txt file to bypass that. To do that on Windows; Press the Windows and R buttons at the same time.
