Finding cheap flights is more about how early you book, when you plan the trip (be flexible), and how trafficked are the airports (bigger airports are usually cheaper). I like Google Flight + Kayak Map for getting general ideas about what destinations may be cheap when I have no specific destination in mind.

Google flights….. enter where you are and for destination type in a country such as “United states” the whole world map should appear and you can see the cheapest destination. Best of luck!
I go on Google flights in incognito then click “Explore” and select “1 week trip” in “the next 6 months”. Then you can click on the map view and look around to see the cheapest flights for any city.
