Google which owns ITA Matrix has revamped its Google Flights tool which has been around for a few years but has a better interface and is faster than ITA. It also lets you click on the fares and pull up the actual itinerary on the airline's site.
Google flights is a good tool to search your flights & routes. Its no different from any other search engines which re direct you to other sites to book from.

Google shows you nearly all available flights for a search but doesn't force you to book with it. Unlike Expedia, Orbitz, Tripadvisor or Kayak, it's not an online travel agency.
