What is the Definition of a Cross Country Flight? (According to FAA) For pilots, the term “cross-country” is inextricably wrapped up in the FAA’s Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). The FAA has at least seven different definitions of what is a cross-country and what is not a cross-country.
3 paź 2017 · To act as PIC under FAR Part 135, pilots must have either 100 hours of cross country time for VFR flights or 500 hours of cross country time for IFR flights. These Part 135 requirements follow the FAA's basic definition of cross country flight as being "point to point."
Cross-country flights are flights conducted outside of the local area, defined as flying greater than 50 NM from the departure airport.
Cross-country time means— (i) Except as provided in paragraphs (ii) through (vi) of this definition, time acquired during flight— (A) Conducted by a person who holds a pilot certificate; (B) Conducted in an aircraft; (C) That includes a landing at a point other than the point of departure; and
