Calculate the amount of monster kills needed to reach a level in various combat skills.
First of all, base 70-80 is ideal considering you can grind out those stats fairly quickly and reap a faster slayer xp/hr rate by means of cannon-able tasks and simply higher dps. Also, the experience for lvl 70 is low. For example, a player could theoretically get base 90 and complete 99 slayer before maxing their combat stats.
You will have several 99's before 99 slayer because you get xp for it slower than combat skills. Generally speaking, you get 4 combat xp per monster hitpoint. You generally get 1 slayer xp per hitpoint. There's some exceptions, but that's a blanket rule that almost always applies.
In Old School RuneScape (OSRS), your combat level is determined by the levels of your combat-related skills. These skills include Attack, Strength, Defense, Ranged, Magic, and Hitpoints. The game calculates your combat level based on the highest level among these skills, using the following formula:

A mid-level account with a combat level of 70 can start at Slayer master Chaeldar or with Konar quo Maten at level 75, and work their way towards higher-level Slayer masters such as Nieve and Duradel.
