29 kwi 2019 · This a/c was originally built as a YB-58A. Transferred to Chanute in May 1964 as a ground instructional airframe. Redesignated GRB-58A in May 1965. Put on display at the base in 1967. After the Chanute Air Museum closed in 2015, this a/c was moved in August 2017 to the Castle Air Museum in California.

Castle Air Museum is on the edge of what is today KMER, Castle Airport, but was formerly USAF Castle AFB. The collection is superb and features several rare types such as the Douglas Bollo and Dragon, the Convair B-36 and Boeing WB-50 & B-29 in addition to the SR-71A.
This rare B-58 was photographed at the Castle Air Museum on 05 Feb 2019. It was formerly located at the Chanute AFB museum and was relocated to the Castle museum on 17 August 2017. As shown, the aircraft is in the process of reassembly.
Formerly on static display at Chanute AFB IL wearing serial number 61-2059, 55-666 was shipped to Castle Air Museum in Atwater California arriving on August 17, 2017 and is in multiple phases of restoration.
Surviving B-58 Hustlers. Between 1956 and 1962, Convair built a total of 116 B-58 Husters of all types. Today, only eight aircraft survive. 55-663/4 B-58A, converted to TB-58A. On display at Grissom Air Museum, Grissom AFB, IN. First Flight was 8/12/57.
