When you book a trip on American, you’ll receive a unique 6-digit confirmation code made up of letters. It's also known as a record locator. Example confirmation code: JCQNHD. You can find your confirmation code on your confirmation email or boarding pass.

Most flights start boarding 30 - 50 minutes before scheduled departure, but the exact time depends on your destination and plane. Boarding ends 15 minutes before departure. If you’re not on board, we may reassign your seat to another passenger.
Our recommended arrival times are meant to allow plenty of time to check in (with or without bags) and clear security before scheduled departure. Within the U.S. – at least 2 hours. Outside the U.S. – at least 3 hours. Check if your destination has travel restrictions.
