How Do I Apply. Applying to the United States Air Force Academy is more involved than applying to a typical college or university. There are many steps and important deadlines to meet. But first it’s important to understand how the process is divided into pre-candidate and candidate phases.
Start date: March 1. Deadline: December 31. To become a candidate for appointment to the Academy, you must complete and submit a Pre-candidate Questionnaire. Once you complete your Pre-candidate Questionnaire, our system will send you an automated email to verify we have received it.
Nominations from your government are processed through the United States Defense Attaché Office/American embassy serving your country and must be received by the Academy by December 14 for the class entering the following June. To apply for a nomination, write to your country’s government.
Only Air Force enlisted members, including Reserve and Guard Airmen, may apply to USAFA via Air Force Form 1786 and will be considered for the Preparatory School. This form is submitted through a member’s unit commander and Military Personnel Flight (MPF).
