  1. It's possible that someone used the wrong email address when they purchased their tickets. Airlines definitely do send out something when you've purchased tickets. It's pretty fishy that the link was blocked by your browser, but my browser would block the link too, if it led to a pop up window.

  3. Common scams use unsolicited emails under the guise of confirming or completing a flight reservation, e-ticket or order. These emails will generally ask you download something, or change/update personal or account information.

  4. I gave a fake name, backup number and email and they said 3x that I should check the email for verification and my time was like 1pm on Sunday. They called me today (Saturday) to confirm I had gotten the email. I have to assume it's the email they are interested in, perhaps spyware or something.

BTW: I looked up American Airlines phishing scam to report the email and I found this email address ( aa.it.security@aa.com) so I forwarded it to them.
