  2. This office is responsible for reviewing plans, issuing permits, and performing the required inspections of all construction projects within the City of Cleveland. This includes: Building inspections. Electrical inspections. Mechanical / gas inspections. Plumbing inspections.

  3. Online Building Permit Applications. The City of Cleveland has launched a new system for permit management. You may now apply for a permit, track its progress, and schedule inspections through this portal. You will need to create an account the first time you use it.

  5. For issuing each permit and inspections, a fee of $35.00 for the permit plus $20.00 for the first $1000 of valuation of the installation plus $4.00 for each additional fraction thereof. When a re-inspection is required, a fee of $25.00 shall be charged.

  6. In addition to the digital set of plans, a permit application and plans review fee (where applicable) must be received prior to the project being reviewed. This process ensures compliance with the city's adopted building codes, zoning ordinances, and other regulations.

  7. To receive a permit, a licensed contractor must obtain the permit related to their field in all but the following instances: A homeowner can act as the contractor on their own property in which they reside without a license. The applicant must sign the Homeowner-Building Permit Affidavit (PDF).
