The Sullenberger Aviation Museum, formerly the Carolinas Aviation Museum, is an aviation museum on the grounds of Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is one of a few aviation museums located at an airport which serves as a major hub (Charlotte is the #2 hub for American Airlines ).
From old photographs to a variety of airplanes from different time periods, you’ll never run out of things to see and enjoy when you visit your local air museum. If you live in North Carolina, finding a great air museum is a lot easier than you think, and below are more details on all 14 of them.
The reimagined Sullenberger Aviation Museum on the campus of CLT Airport is slated to open in the summer of 2024. Immersive storytelling and hands-on, interactive exhibits capture the imagination of kids of all ages.
Open Thursday - Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In the event of severe weather operating hours may change, contact us for information. For events, please see Events for days and hours. Be sure to arrive before 4:00 pm to have time to enjoy history. Doors close at 5:00 pm! Our Gift Shop.
The North Carolina Aviation Museum and North Carolina Aviation Hall of Fame displays a collection across two hangars of static aircraft, uniforms and memorabilia, and an extensive collection of aircraft models. Nearly all aircraft on display are privately owned and on loan.
Immerse yourself in aviation history! See stunning military artifacts and civilian memorabilia from WWI to the present, including an impressive collection of military vehicles, weapons, equipment, uniforms and a flight simulator.
